A huge amount of our knowledge of previous ages comes from the everyday trivia of the time.
For example, in the Victorian era, letters, postcards, personal diaries, newspapers, magazines, posters etc all tell us much about what people felt, the things they valued and how they lived their daily lives. Today much of that information is lost, particularly at a personal level.
